Welcome to MABU specialists in the Support of Parents.

There has been a significant and sustained rise in the use of parent and baby placements in the UK. A lot of research knowledge around the importance of the first years of a child’s life and the long term impact of a disrupted early attachment. Hence the importance of ensuring that we understand the outcomes of these placements and that practice is focused on achieving early permanence for our most vulnerable babies in the care system.

Parent and babies foster placements are complex and can be challenging, carers are required to supervise and support parents with the care of their baby whilst also undertaking an assessment role and this can push the boundaries of what can be expected of a family placements.

We have specialised in the support of  mothers and babies since 2006 from early pregnancy to supporting in the community and independent fostering agencies after baby is born, giving parents support with their baby and the different aspects of becoming a parent.

We support and accommodate parents in the Medway area, although our parents come from all over the UK. It is beneficial to the parent if they can stay near their family support, and this can give the placement more stability.

We provide experienced and qualified support staff, 24 hours, 7 days a week, in the warm, safe, secure and friendly family atmosphere, with modern large accommodation.

We are dedicated to building relationships with parents and supporting them to meet the needs of their babies. We believe in creating positive outcomes by giving parents the support and abilities they need to nurture and care for their child.

We provide:

Our Family Support Service

We work with each parent to ensure their needs, and those of their children, are met. Identifying their strengths and abilities we support them with the following;

• Healthy eating and cooking
• Home cleanliness and personal hygiene
• General baby care and needs
• Bonding activities including baby massage
• Risk management
• Benefits and housing advice
• Gaining employment and independence skills
• Social activities
• Resettlement support

Our experienced and friendly team are dedicated to building supportive relationships with parents based on trust and honesty; we ensure we meet their needs and those of their child by monitoring and discussing their progress.

We are dedicated to helping every parent meet their potential to care for their child, we ensure every child’s well being by  supporting, encouraging and helping parents to provide love, care and nurture.
